Inspired by the owner’s family home in the south of France, this once dark and outdated Paris apartment is now a light-filled, open plan city retreat that blends traditional heirlooms with modern materials, rich colours, and smart built-in. Interior designer Joséphine Balayn retained the apartment’s original room functions, introducing custom cabinetry, glass partitions and curves to enhance flow, light, and storage. Clever features include a wraparound unit in the kitchen that doubles as hallway counter space and storage, a built-in piano drawer, and deep headboard niches in place of bedside tables. A calm, layered material palette of beige, terracotta, green-grey, and brass brings warmth and texture through-out.
